Early life and career
Afgansyah Reza Afgan was born into a musical family of Minangkabau origin, although he never had any vocal training. He is the second of four children. His career began when he and a few friends decided to record a private album at WannaB Instant Recording Studio. The producers at the studio offered him a contract when they heard him sing.

His first album Confession 1 was a mix of jazz, pop and R&B influences and included such tracks as "Terima Kasih Cinta", "Klise", "Sadis", and "Tanpa Batas Waktu". A music video of the song "Terima Kasih Cinta" was produced by Thalita Latief and directed by Jose Purnomo. He won the Best Solo Male Vocalist Award for the song at the 2009 Indonesian Music Awards. In 2009, he made his first foray into acting when he appeared in the film Bukan Cinta Biasa with Olivia Lubis Jensen. He also sang the title track for the film. The next year he also appeared in the film Cinta 2 Hati and performed on the film's soundtrack. His second album The One was released in January 2010. In 2011, he performed the theme song at the Southeast Asian Games.

Afgan Syahreza (born in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 27, 1989), known widely as Afgan, is an Indonesian pop singer and actor. He released his debut album Confession 1 in January 2008. In 2010, he released his second album The One. He has won a variety awards for his work, including Best Male Vocalist at the 2009 Indonesian Music Awards and Best Male Artist at the 2009 Planet Muzik Awards.
Personal life
Afgan's personal life is closely followed by the Indonesian media. He is earning a degree in economics from MONASH University Sunway campus, Malaysia. Afgan also been rumored as a gay. But soon it had been refuted, following various rumors about his close relationship with several female celebrities, such as Olivia Jensen, Arumi Bachsin, and Maudy Ayunda.
